Mission
To promote, develop and foster the game of English Billiards for the enjoyment and benefit of the players.
What We Do
The EABA is an organisation that runs a calendar of English Billiards competitions at various clubs throughout England. Our events include players with a wide variety of abilities and we would like to encourage as many people as we can to play billiards. The billiards community is very friendly to newcomers.
A part of this is that we believe in using an open draw with no seeding for all of our competitions. This means that the best players might meet each other in the first round, and it’s then an equal footing for all people. You might get a good draw, and you might not, with everybody having an equal chance.
Playing in our competitions
Entries for most of our competitions are taken on the day — turn up at the venue named on the calendar and put your name down. New players are welcome, and you do not need to be a member to come and watch or play.
Only the Grand Masters and English Amateur competitions need to be signed-up to in advance.
Rankings
Our player rankings are determined by points gained from the tournaments you enter. Points are awarded for participating, and also for the any games you win. Those that finish in the top 8 in a season qualify to play in international matches that we organise. There’s also an senior rankings for those over 50 years old, with the top 8 qualifying for a senior international against Northern Ireland.
