The EABA has been without a website for some time. The old site came down while a replacement was being built, and in the meantime everything has lived on Facebook — every fixture, every result, every report, and a set of rankings worked out painstakingly by hand.
That changes now. This is the Association’s new home: a single place where everything about our competitions is gathered, kept up to date automatically, and — importantly — works on the phone in your pocket on the day of an event.
Rankings, worked out for you
Open and Senior rankings now update themselves as results are entered — no more manual compilation. You can see exactly how each player’s total is built up, competition by competition.
And for a bit of fun, there are the Par rankings: a light-hearted “what-if” table that imagines how everyone might have done if they’d entered every competition this season.
The calendar — in your pocket
The calendar shows the season’s fixtures at a glance, including events that run over several days or as regional rounds. Better still, you can subscribe to it: one tap adds every fixture to the calendar on your phone or computer, and it keeps itself up to date as the season unfolds.
On the day: everything on your phone
This is the big one. On the day of a competition you no longer need to find the tournament director to ask who you’re playing or what’s happening next. Just pull out your phone and follow:
- the full draw and bracket as it progresses,
- group tables and standings,
- session times,
- and results as they come in.
Everyone sees the same up-to-date picture — which means a lot less queueing at the TD’s table to ask the same questions.
Breaks
Every break of 50 and above (lower for junior events) is recorded. There’s a top-breaks leaderboard for the season and a breaks table showing who’s made what — a proper record of the season’s best scoring.
A profile for every player
Each player has their own page: their competition history, the rounds they reached, the breaks they’ve made and their ranking standing — all in one place.
Reports and news
Write-ups of each event appear on the site as well as on Facebook, attached to the competition they describe, so the report sits right alongside the draw, results and breaks.
