Reading Rooms, Bangor, Northern Ireland. 18/19th January 2020
Captain Rob Hall led from the front again as England retained the friendly cup by a greater margin than many expected. Nathan Mann had some good breaks, including a top one of 146 in, along with Hall, going unbeaten all weekend. Hall had breaks of 108,254,134unf,247 and 204 in what were excellent playing conditions (thanks Keith McCready). Adam Clarke had a nice 104 break with a borrowed cue after his was lost in transit.
England led by 21-11 overnight, helped by a clean sweep in the first round of matches, NI retaliating by winning the second session 7-1 to set the stage nicely. The last two sessions went England’s way by 6-2 and Sunday saw the final score of 40-24 sealed by more England session wins. England’s team also included Mark Graham, Craig Fitzpatrick, Ron Bickerdike, Jim McCann and Steve Crosland and the usual good job was done by tournament director Clive Scott and referees Bob Slee, Chris Ellis, Frank Trainor, Tommy Hunter and Aonghus McNally. Special thanks to Keith McCready for refereeing, table preparation, running the club, playing and to all the our Northern Ireland friends for a great friendly cup weekend.
