Billiards Classic
Paddy Donnelly lifted the first Billiard ranking event of the
season when he beat former professional Tommy Murphy
by 600 points to 320. Paddy also lifted the high break prize in
the top eight players section when he recorded a brilliant 182
to bypass the previous best of 107 by Davy Pogue. Tommy
took the top break for the players outside the top eight with a
nice 83, also in the final. The match was refereed by Eddie Bull.
Cheques were presented by George Thompson of the Reading
Rooms, in front of a large crowd. Results from the quarterfinals

INTERNATIONAL MATCH
Northern Ireland v England
The annual international between Northern Ireland and
England was held on Saturday and Sunday 16th-17th
January for the Friendly Cup. The match took place in the
seaside resort town of Bangor, Co. Down, in the Bangor
Reading Rooms. England travelled with a party of 25. The
match was sponsored by The Irish News with the teams
staying at the Bangor Bay Inn Hotel, who kindly offered a
special weekend rate to the Billiards Association.
