England win 23/24 four Nations event!
England were successful in retaining the four nations trophy in Vienna following 2 long days of billiards.
The whole team excelled on the Sunday only dropping 2 points to finish on 62 out of 72 points for the weekend.
Rob Hall and Nathan Mann took a full suite of 12 points, with Chris Achilles and Chris Mitchell taking 10, and Gary Norman and Chris Taylor taking 9.
On the Sunday Chris Achilles scored a 68 unfinished with 3 and a half minutes left on the clock to win by 4 against Austria’s Thomas Janzo.
Austria showed signs that in a couple of years they will be hugely competitive with a number of strong technical cueists in their ranks.
Nathan Mann defeated Kenny Campbell and Rob Hall defeated Paul Lindsay on the way to a 10-2 win over Northern Ireland in the 90 minute game format.
Coming into the competition Northern Ireland were viewed as strong competition for this year’s title so it was testament to all the England players who dug deep over the weekend to bring the trophy back home.
The facilities in Austria were fantastic and a huge thank you goes to Martin Schmidt and Patrick Steigmeir for laying on a great weekend!
The camaraderie between on the players from all the teams were fantastic, and England look forward to hosting the event in 2024!
